Carlin Motorsport was founded in 1996 and in 1999 entered its first full season of racing with Narain Karthikeyan in British F3. The team went on to win six races that season, signalling the potential that would make Carlin the most successful team in British F3 history. One of the most successful single-seater teams outside F1, Carlin has won approaching 200 races in its 12-year racing history, has claimed six British F3 championship titles and has played a role in the careers of F1 stars of the past, present and future Takuma Sato, Narain Karthikeyan, Anthony Davidson, Nico Rosberg, Robert Kubica, Sebastian Vettel, Jaime Alguersuari, Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne. In November 2009 the team entered a new era with its purchase by Capsicum Motorsport Ltd, a company set up by motorsport enthusiast Grahame Chilton
