19 JANUARY 2012: After a superb season in UK Formula Renault, Fortec’s new signing Alex Lynn is hoping for a repeat of his championship-winning form this season as he steps up to the Cooper Tires British Formula 3 International Series.
The Essex 18-year-old believes it will be difficult but not impossible to replicate his 2011 form on a bigger stage: “Last year was an incredible year for me,” said Alex, “and I am looking forward to cracking on with F3 now and, hopefully, having nearly as good a season… It’s going to be tough to win the championship, as it is my first year, but I’m confident that if we all work hard and do a good job then we can be fighting for the championship come the end of the year.”
Lynn is to be teamed at Fortec with second-year British F3 driver Pipo Derani, from Brazil, and Puerto Rican racer Felix Serralles. “I’ve met Pipo once at a test and Felix I’ve tested with a couple of times, so I know them… I’m looking forward to hearing who my final team-mate is going to be. Pipo has a lot of experience, of course, but I’m fairly confident I can be quick from the outset.
“This is my third year with Fortec, I know everyone in the team really well, and they know me. It’s a great combination and a winning team.”
